Promise Keeper

“Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever." Psalm 146:3-6

Promise: a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen

My Child,

At times, your head is turned by the power of man. I know from your perspective, people can look very impressive. Man may inflict great pain or bring significant reward. But remember, the most powerful human is still flesh and blood and dependent on me for their next breath.

People come and go. But I AM.

Unlike people, I will never perish, diminish, or change. Many times, humans commit to do a particular thing or guarantee something will happen. But in reality, they don’t have that kind of power. They can have the best intentions and promise to try, but something may thwart their success.

Nothing thwarts me. I have always been and will always be God. I will accomplish what I set out to do. I want to draw you into my forever plans today. I promise you my endless grace, truth, and love. And I don’t just make promises. I keep them. Because of who I am, I cannot slip up, falter, or betray you.

Put your hope in me — the one who has the power to hold the galaxies in place. I promise I can handle the challenges of your day, no matter what comes along.

I love you,

Abba

My Abba,

I realize I can get caught up in the power of man at times. There are even powerful people in my family in whom I am tempted to put my confidence. I know you can use them to accomplish great things. But please help me to see all humans as part of my earth troop and reserve the God-space only for you.

I need your intervention today, my all powerful, promise-keeping God. I feel frail and keenly aware of my humanity. I cannot run this race without you. Please take me and what you want me to accomplish today and fuel it by your power and love.

I really do believe you are my only hope. I just get distracted from that truth sometimes. You have the integrity and power to make promises and keep them.

So today, I don’t want to put my confidence in what I perceive as the best and most powerful tools, systems, conveniences, and circumstances created by man. Give me the wisdom not to trust in dust. I want to put my hope in you, my God, who made humans, earth, sea, space, and everything else.

Thank you that you will never leave me nor forsake me. No shift in my universe will alter who you are — Never-Changing, Always-Faithful God. Please give me everything I need to put my confidence in you.

I love you,

Mollie
